🦶 Accident Prevention
The special texture (quartz sand, aluminium oxide or polymers) increases friction and prevents falls.
Garage ramps, industrial mezzanines or fire-escape stairs - wet metal floors become hazardous. Anti-slip coatings are the answer.
It's not about aesthetics - it's primarily about functionality and safety.
The special texture (quartz sand, aluminium oxide or polymers) increases friction and prevents falls.
A proper coating seals the metal, protecting against moisture, oxidation and rust.
In commercial environments, these coatings withstand oil, fuel and chemical cleaner spills.
The right choice depends on the application area and your experience.
Ideal for: Home garages, storage rooms (DIY). Moderate durability, easy application, fast drying.
Ideal for: Outdoor metal stairs, ramps. High durability, excellent UV resistance. Requires ventilation.
Ideal for: Factories, workshops, commercial kitchens. Very high resistance to heavy vehicles & chemicals. Requires precise mixing.
The secret lies in preparation - on metal, this stage is non-negotiable.
Cleaning (heavy-duty degreaser), rust removal (wire brush/sander/blasting), scuffing (sandpaper) for better adhesion.
Never apply topcoat directly to bare metal! Use a high-quality anti-corrosion primer (ideally epoxy if the topcoat is epoxy).
Stir very thoroughly (particles settle at the bottom). Short/medium-nap roller. At least 2 coats. Avoid spray gun (particles clog the nozzle).
💡 Pro Tip: If you can't find the shade you want in a ready-made anti-slip paint, buy anti-slip additive powder and mix it yourself into the metal paint of your choice.
To keep your anti-slip surface functional and looking good:
Sweep frequently to remove stones and debris (they act like sandpaper). Wash with water + mild detergent.
Do not clean with metal scrapers or hard wire brushes - they strip the anti-slip particles.
Scratch down to bare metal? Clean locally and touch up with paint immediately to prevent rust.
