If we need to "clamp" the tub to fit, it is usually not the right choice. In this case, a good built-in bathtub or a large walk-in shower can give a better result.

If there is enough distance around it, the right lighting and a floor battery in the right place, the result is reminiscent of a hotel suite. But if the same bathtub goes into a small bathroom without air around it, it loses its value.
In a renovated apartment, a good acrylic freestanding can give a very beautiful result without the weight and cost of a solid surface. If the budget is reasonable and the use is daily, this may be the most practical solution.
In an old building where the owner wants a cast iron bathtub, access and load control must be done first. The question is not only whether it fits in the bathroom. It's if she goes up to the apartment, if the floor can accept her and if the waits can be done right.
A freestanding bathtub has to be planned before the floors go down and before the plumbing rough-ins are closed up. It is not an object you simply “drop in at the end.”
If you want a floor-mounted tub filler, ask for the technical drawings of both the tub and the tap from the beginning. The rough-in position has to be exact.
