1. The New Reduced Fee Hours (Guide 2026)

The new system is "dual-zone", that is, it breaks the cheap hours into two parts: a long one at midday (to take advantage of the sun) and a smaller one at dawn. The schedule is divided, as always, into Summer and Winter periods:

Valid every day of the week: Midday zone 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (4 hours) and overnight zone 2:00 a.m. - 4:00 a.m. (2 hours).

❄️ Winter Time (November 1st – March 31st)

Valid every day of the week: Midday zone 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. (3 hours) and overnight zone 2:00 a.m. - 5:00 a.m. (3 hours).

2. How Can I Tell If I Already Have Dual-Zone Billing?

You don't have to guess. You can check it directly in 3 different ways:

On the Electricity Bill: Get the last statement bill (of any provider). On the front page, if next to the type of invoice there is the letter "N" (eg "C1N Household Invoice") and you see a separate charge for "Day Consumption" and "Night Consumption", then you have it normally activated.
On Your Electric Panel: Many homes have an indicator light (usually orange or red) next to the water heater fuse that only lights up when the reduced tariff is activated.
Digitally at HEDNO: You can enter the application or the website of HEDNO, type in your 11-digit Supply Number, and the system will immediately inform you if the supply has dual-zone counting.

3. Application Process (Step - Step)

If you do not already have it, activation is now relatively simple and inexpensive. The application is not submitted to your electricity supplier, but to the network operator, HEDNO.

Online

Go to apps.deddie.gr (Customer Service), log in with the Taxisnet codes, select "Night Meter Request" and fill in your Provision Number.

By phone

You call 800 400 4000 (toll free) and make the request over the phone.

Cost

The participation for the installation of the meter is a one-off symbolic fee (about €40 - €45 plus VAT), which is included in the next electricity bill. You don't pay cash to the technician.

4. What Changes in Practice at Your Meter?

From the moment you make the application, a HEDNO technician will visit your home meter (usually within 10-20 days).

Important Note for old houses: If your supply is very old and your electrical panel does not have the necessary cable (signal cable) connecting the meter to the panel light, the two-zone current will work normally and you will be charged cheaper at certain times. You just won't have the visual confirmation (the light bulb) inside the house.

If you have an old analog meter

The technician may replace it with a newer digital smart meter, which switches tariff periods electronically. This also improves billing accuracy, since modern meters can transmit readings remotely.

If you already have a digital meter

Often the upgrade is done remotely (telemetrically) or the technician just drops by to activate the dual zone program in the meter software, without changing the device.
